Skateboard Tune-up Time

Skateboards take a beating. Whether you're skating street, hitting the park, or just pushing around town, your setup wears down with every session. Regular tune-ups don’t just extend the life of your gear—they make you skate better. Clean bearings and responsive trucks can be the difference between landing it or getting wrecked.

At 512 Loop, we believe in gear that works as hard as you do. Here's a quick tune-up checklist every skater should keep in their mental toolkit:

✔ Bearings:
Are your wheels slowing down or sounding crusty? It might be time to clean or replace your bearings. A good set of cleaned and lubed bearings makes a huge difference in speed and smoothness.

✔ Trucks:
Loose trucks are great—until the bushings blow out. If you’re getting wheel bite, weird squeaks, or your turns feel off, check your bushings and pivot cups. Tighten your hardware, too—loose bolts lead to stripped threads and sloppy rides.

✔ Wheels:
Look for uneven wear or flat spots (especially if you powerslide or skate rough concrete). If your ride feels bumpy, swapping wheels can totally reset your feel on the board.

✔ Deck:
Look for pressure cracks near the trucks, soft spots, chips, or a worn-down tail. If your pop’s gone or you’re seeing delamination, it’s probably time for a new board.

At 512 Loop, we stock curated decks from Krooked, Anti-Hero, and GX1000, plus new in-house original board designs that are made to ride—not just sit on a wall. We don’t sell throwaways. Whether you're tuning up your setup or starting fresh, we've got gear worth skating.
